The Nifty Fifty website was launched by the Santa Monica City Attorney’s Consumer Protection Division as a resource for information about reasonable accommodations and modifications in California. The Consumer Protection Division enforces and promotes awareness of the fair housing laws, along with consumer protection and other tenant-protection laws.
The Santa Monica City Attorney’s Consumer Protection Division members have seen many ingenious and surprisingly inexpensive accommodation and modification solutions in the course of assisting owners, managers and disabled tenants. This site, conceived by the Consumer Protection Division and built by the City of Santa Monica’s Web Development Team, will highlight such solutions by allowing the California fair housing community to compile a total of 25 examples each of reasonable accommodations and modifications.
Readers are asked to submit their own success story and vote for their favorites. The providers of the two stories with the most votes by February 1, 2015 will be invited to speak at Santa Monica’s April 2015 fair housing workshop, with their expenses for the trip covered.
